I love mine!

I was recently given an old model of the KitchenAid, and I am using it daily! This particular paddle is so helpful when making muffins, banana bread and other sweet treats. I use it for all my mixing unless it's baking bread. I'm wishing for a bread hook with the spatula material on the edge due to baking bread almost every day!

My mixer is about 10 years old and was a gift. Wasn't very pleased when I began my baking and found the bottom of the beater was all chipped! Imagine my surprise when I read all the disappointing reviews. I really like my mixer and I always thought KitchenAid had wonderful products.

Paint chipping off. Poor quality. I've been using the flat beater with rubber piece and it seems to be holding up so far.

Flat Beater contains LEAD
Antje 52
4/13/2019
Just saw online that they tested the kitchenmaid beaters and have found they contain lead. If the enamel is intact it is ok. Mine has many chips on it so I have been exposing my family to lead everyday as that is how often I use my machine. So disappointed in kitchenaid that these beaters were not better quality as the price of the machine when I got mine was close to $500.00.

I made salt dough for my kids the other day and now the coating is chipping off everywhere. I'm disappointed that there's not a better replacement for this.

I have the Deluxe 5 Edition KitchenAid Mixer and the coating on the flat head beater peeled and ruined my banana cake batter. I so disappointed. I am not sure if I want to purchase another one

I can't believe that as much as I spent on this mixer that the white coating on the beater couldn't even last a year without chipping. I have never put it in the dishwasher so thats not an excuse for Kitchenaid. Guess who won't be buying a Kitchenaid anymore...

Bad BEATERS!

Unfortunately KitchenAid has no plans to re-design the beater attachments. The one attachment you'll use most. Two options, the coated beater that chips off in use. Or the burnished metal beater that oxidizes and turns your batters gray. Just great. Its sad because the actual mixers get 5 stars in my book. I wont buy another mixer from KitchenAid.

Disappointed and Frustrated

I am looking to replace my peeling beater for my 5-QT mixer, model K5SSWH. I am reading the reviews for the replacement beater parts (coated flat beater K5AB and burnished flat beater K5ABB) and it appears there are ongoing issues with peeling and leaching. that Kitchen Aid has not addressed. I paid a significant amount for my beater and would expect to find quality accessories that will not contaminate my food. What economical solutions do have to assist your devoted customers?

Lasted less than a year

Less than a year and I am already replacing the flat beater because the coating CHIPPED in use -- so I had to TOSS OUT an entire batch of cheesecake batter! First the whisk oxidized because apparently you can't put them in the dishwasher any longer (how do you sanitize or de-grease effectively then?) and now this. KitchenAid is getting to be the CHEAP junk rather than the quality product.

Poor Beater paint chipping in food
Marissa M
11/3/2017
I bought this beater to replace the one that i lost. The beater worked well for about a month. then the paint started to chip off into my food. Now here is metal fragments in my food. This is obviously NOT supposed to happen.
Seems like they need to make the item a bit shorter as the beater grinds on the bottom of the bowl....

Beater lasted over 30 yrs, time to replace it
Mariellen
10/28/2017
I came here to purchase two new beaters that will replace mine and my Mom's - both are over 30 yrs old and are regularly used. It is disconcerting to read other reviews of beaters lasting a very short time in relation to the original ones that came with our purchase! I have to wonder if it is due to newer regulations for food surfaces to be free of paints containing chemicals more than it being any type of corporate decision. I'll still jump in the bowl and buy the replacements! I do expect to use them heavily with the upcoming holidays and if I see unusual wear I will certainly come back to post a new review. For now, I'll have to give five stars for the way my beater held up over 30 yrs of use and that I love my machine. I have purchased a few attachments over the years and have thoroughly enjoyed the results I get using the food grinder in making unique hamburgers (adding fresh veggies with the meat I'm grinding such as fresh fennel with pork)

Great mixer, flakey beater
10/12/2016
We love our K5SS but have had to replace the beater multiple times due to flaky coatings. The last one we hand washed only, yet it has not lasted more than a couple of years. The plastic scraper beater breaks with heavy batter, the burnished one oxidizes. We would pay appropriately for a good stainless steel beater.

not happy
8/29/2016
Although I have had the stand mixer for about 3 years, I do not use it often. I am very happy with the mixer itself but the flat beater has cracked and chips off. I don't think it is good quality. That should not happen.

Expect more
3/25/2016
Look, I am a fan of Kitcheaid mixers, but cmon. Why is there a coating that comes off and why do the aluminum ones bleed grey? Would stainless not work? I guess finally finding a way to replace is nice but really, I EXPECT MORE and you should too.

Coating cracks and comes off
4/7/2015
The beater works fine but I am getting ready to replace my 3rd one because the coating cracks and starts peeling off. Granted I've had the mixer about 13 years, but I would expect the beaters to last as long as the mixer. I'm getting the burnished one this time.

Works great, but. . .
1/6/2015
I have owned my KitchenAid stand-lift mixer since the early 80's, that's just about 30 years, and I love it! It included 3 beaters, the flat coated beater, the dough hook and the balloon whip. About 10 years ago the flat beater's vinyl coating began to crack but I didn't know how or where to get a replacement. Now I know how and where, but I would love to be able to get one that is stainless rather than the vinyl coat.
